Our Croatian summer 2026

Our first trip to Croatia

Alex spent the first two weeks of the summer holidays at home and the next two with his dad. Then our shared adventure began: the three of us travelled to Croatia. It was our first visit to the country and we were lucky with beautiful weather. Swimming is one of our favourite activities, not only on holiday, so we were in the pool every day and also swam in the warm, salty sea.

Our first time on a SUP

We tried stand-up paddleboarding for the first time and laughed a lot. With the waves constantly moving the board, paddling was not as easy as it looked and keeping our balance was a challenge too. We love this kind of activity, so we will definitely do it again.

Time just for Melanie and me

Melanie and I went horse riding together. Melanie can already ride independently, while I still needed some support. For me, sharing a ride with her was also the fulfilment of a small dream. We could do it because we travelled with my friend and her daughter, so I knew Alex was in good hands. We spent most of the holiday together, of course, but moments alone with one child are important to me too.

Boats, islands and Krka

A boat trip was a must because Alex loves boats and we take every opportunity we can. We admired the huge number of Croatian islands and also visited Krka National Park to see its famous waterfalls. We explored the underwater world from a boat with underwater viewing and by swimming with goggles, collecting a few beautiful shells along the way.

Water course, rides and sunsets

Together with the children we also tackled an inflatable water obstacle course, where Mum could feel like a child again for a while. There were fairground rides, souvenirs, ice cream, walks and beautiful sunsets by the sea.

Therapy came with us too

Among all these attractions we also continued the SSP therapy we had already started and completed it before the new school year began. The end of the holidays means another school year, new goals to reach, plenty of challenges and many more steps ahead.
